Therapy
Below is important information about therapy that may help you determine whether I am a good fit for you. Please read through all the information.
Appointments
Our work together will start with an intake. The intake is conducted over one 50 minute session. You’ll be invited to talk about what is bringing you to therapy and your therapy goals. I’ll ask a few questions to learn more about you and you will also be able to ask me questions.
As we begin working together in therapy, we will meet for weekly 50 minute sessions. The quality of our work together relies on your willingness to bring up important topics and challenge yourself to engage fully in the process.
Commitment to weekly therapy is part of actively working towards change. As you accomplish your goals, we will talk together about decreasing the frequency of sessions.
Investment
Intake/Initial Evaluation (one 50 minute session) - intake sessions are offered via telehealth or an outdoor session ($300)
For teen clients under the age of 18, an initial session will be held with parents/caregivers to gather relevant family history, and a separate intake session is scheduled with the teen client.
Follow-up therapy sessions:
50 minute outdoor or telehealth therapy session: $275
While I am not in network with any insurance plans, I provide documentation (also called a superbill) for out-of-network benefits on a monthly basis. If you plan on using out of network benefits, it is important to contact your insurance company in advance to learn more about the specifics of your plan and how to submit for reimbursement. HSA and FSA plans can also be used to pay for sessions.
Good Faith Estimate
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. I am not in-network with any health insurance plans and therefore I am considered an out-of-network provider. This means I do not have an agreement or contract with your insurance plan to provide services.
Under the law, healthcare providers need to give people who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.
You can ask me, and any other healthcare provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visitwww.cms.gov/nosurprises.
Cancellation Policy
Therapy involves a shared commitment to a weekly session time. To cancel your appointment and avoid incurring a fee, 48 hours notice is required. If you cancel with less than 48 hours notice, or miss your appointment entirely, you are financially responsible for the full cost of the session. The credit or debit card you place on file as part of the intake process will be charged at the time of the missed session.
Documentation Requests
As part of our work, you may ask me to complete forms or letters on your behalf. Should you make such a request, a release form will be required with specific information regarding what and with whom you would like information to be shared.
General forms or letters requiring less than 15 minutes for completion are provided free of charge. More complex requests are billed in 15 minute increments at my hourly rate of $300.
Outdoor Therapy
My practice offers both outdoor therapy as well as telehealth appointments. Outdoor therapy sessions are offered for those located in, or willing to travel to, the Boston area.
Online/Telehealth Therapy
Our therapy sessions are conducted through a secure web-based video platform. This platform keeps our conversations private. For online sessions, all you need is a computer or device with a camera and an internet connection. It is also important to find a place to meet for our sessions where you feel comfortable and able to speak openly. I am a licensed to practice in Massachusetts, Maine, and Vermont, meaning you will need to be located in one of the aforementioned states at the time of the session in order for us to meet.
